Adult Education
We will have a number of interesting guests visiting First Lutheran Church during the "first semester" of the Christian Education year. This will be an excellent opportunity to hear new voices with their individual perspectives on what our Church can and is doing in far off places and just around the corner. You are encouraged to listen to the news and ideas they bring us and, if you feel so inclined, bring your own voice to the conversation. And, best of all, you can do all of this, if not "from the comfort of your own couch," at least from the comfort of your own church; coffee and doughnuts in hand and your usual "coffee-clutch" friends right at your side.
We will spend one Sunday coffee hour listening to a speaker and asking them questions. The following Sunday we will have a chance to gather to ask and answer the question, "What was the Good News that our speaker brought us and what should this congregation's role be in passing that on?"
Our first guest, Rev. Rober Smith - ELCA Director for Europe and the Middle East - will be with us on September 23 to talk about "Peace not Walls Middle East Strategy."
There could hardly be a more timely topic to start our year of Christian growth. Feel free to invite your friends and neighbors. They will appreciate the chance to hear from someone with current first-hand knowledge of this most troubled area of the world.
